September- Healthy Eating



Eating healthy is important for our growing children!  Fruits and Vegetables are yummy to eat and are full of nutrients and vitamins! 


There are many ways of eating healthy… smoothies, green salad, fruit salads, grilling veggies are just a few ways to eat fruits and veggies.

 Another way to eat healthy can begin with mealtime traditions.  Start a new tradition now!


 In the hallway, there is a “What’s on Your Plate” display.  This board shows healthy eating portions and what is healthy on your plate.  This includes daily portions of veggies, fruits, grains, protein, and dairy.

Encouraging your children to eat healthy is important.  Eating healthy together as a family is a GREAT way of doing this.  Going to the grocery store together and picking out fresh fruits and vegetables, then preparing them in the kitchen as a family can be fun!  Even growing veggies in your own garden as a family is fun and CHEAP!  There are local farmer markets in the area such as Inman Farmers Market on Fridays and Hub City Market (in Spartanburg) on Saturdays.  Eating local is a great way to be healthy as well as helping our community!
