My name is Angela Mount and this is my 6th year as the school counselor at Holly Springs Motlow Elementary. I have a Masters degree in School Counseling (M.Ed) from Winthrop University. And, I am also a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF).

As the School Counselor at Holly Springs-Motlow Elementary School, I believe that all students have the right to learn in a safe environment that fosters their personal/social, academic, and career growth.  The goal of the school counseling program is to help children become successful in school. I believe in a team approach to foster the development of the whole child so I work closely with administrators, teachers, staff, and parents to provide the highest quality counseling program possible. We know that if our children are happy, healthy, and feel safe, they will perform much better in school.

I have an open door policy for all students to have access to speak with me about any problem or issue they are experiencing at school or at home.  Students have counselor notes available in their classroom as well as outside my office and can fill one out when they need to speak with me. In addition, parents may contact me at any time to discuss their student and request that I meet with them.  I believe in a student-centered approach to individual counseling. Through the use of solution-focused techniques, I work with students to aid them in solving their own problems in developmentally appropriate ways.

If you have any concerns about your child please contact me:

The school counseling program at Holly Springs-Motlow Elementary is based on the South Carolina Guidance Standards to address the personal/social, academic, and career development of students, as well as the Profile of a South Carolina Graduate.

The school counseling program is carried out through school-wide activities, classroom guidance lessons, small group meetings, and individual counseling.   All students receive classroom guidance biweekly with the counselor.  Topics are aligned with the program standards but tailored to the individual needs of students and classes.  Students in 3rd - 6th grade also complete an "All about Me" survey at the beginning of the year to help identify specific needs of students and this data is used to guide small group and individual counseling sessions.
