Campobello-Gramling News
Campobello-Gramling Teacher is Golden Apple Winner
Mrs. Tonya Cole, a second grade teacher from Campobello-Gramling School was recently honored as a WYFF Golden Apple Award recipient.

Welcome to Campobello Gramling School!

It is my pleasure to introduce you to a school that believes in quality, student-centered education. If you are visiting for the first time, or you are a school family member, we welcome you and hope you enjoy the CGS website.

This summer, CGS is hosting the District Literacy Institute for 2nd and 3rd grade, and we are a school site for YMCA of Spartanburg summer camp. However, many of  our faculty and staff are enjoying a break. They continue to plan, research, and develop quality, student-centered opportunities. Over 20 teachers and staff attended at our District Technology Training, and two CGS teachers presented.  We will also stay busy this summer helping students each Tuesday during our open library hours.

Campobello Gramling School completed the 2015-2016 school year with many accomplishments. Academically, four eighth grade students were recognized as South Carolina Junior Scholars. Two students were selected to attend the Scholars Academy program at the University of South Carolina Upstate, and four students were selected to the Spartanburg Community Early College for the 2016-2017 school year. In addition, one hundred percent of the eighth grade Algebra I class passed the End of Course test.  Our academic arts classes continued to offer award-winning programs.

The seventh and eighth grade band participated in the solo and ensemble festival, receiving 22 superior and 8 excellent ratings. The 8th grade band also participated in the SC Band Director's Association Concert Festival where they received a good rating. The CGS Middle School and Honors Chorus (4th - 6th grade) participated in the Carowinds Choral Festival. The Middle School Chorus scored an Excellent and Honors chorus scored a Superior rating for the second year in a row. The CGS orchestra scored a Excellent  rating in The South Carolina Music Educators Association Orchestra Division Solo and Ensemble Festival. The Orchestra also received 11 individual Superiors and 10` Excellents. Our art program continued to earn awards in many grades on national, state, and local levels.

The faculty and staff of Campobello Gramling School seek to support charitable causes and encourage our students to do the same. This year, CGS raised money for Relay for Life ($7,000), and delivered over 11,000 Christmas cards to veterans. This could not have been possible without the generous support of our community.

Professional development was a priority of our faculty and staff.  Throughout the year, teachers participated in a variety of staff development opportunities including study groups, technology and literacy training, vertical articulation, and the implementation of the college and career readiness standards.

As the 2016-17 school year approaches, our faculty and staff are preparing to provide students with another year of exceptional education and opportunity. This year’s theme, From the Mountain to the Sea, CGS is the Place to Be, will give us an opportunity to explore our state.  As principal, I have the privilege to work with excellent students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.   Campobello Gramling School is a corridor to opportunity. Every student will be challenged, embraced, and given the tools to be college and career ready.  Please take a moment and read about Campobello Gramling's 2015-2016 school year and preview our plans for the 2016-2017 academic year.

We have created a culture that provides for a student-centered education and believe it is our responsibility to nurture individual learning styles as we prepare our students to lead productive lives now and in the future.  We look forward to registration on Tuesday. August 2th, 2016. Have a safe and wonderful summer.
