The classroom portion of our program will consist of at least thirty hours of classroom instruction. Upon receiving passing grades in this part of the instruction, the student will have “on the road” instruction for at least six driving lessons. In addition, the student will observe other students’ driving and receive instruction regarding driving conditions, hazards encountered, etc.
Before a student may participate in the on-road portion of the class, he/she must be at least fifteen (15) years old, have a valid driver’s permit or license, and pay the drive education fee. This fee is used to offset the expense of the car and the gas.
There are many differences among students’ skills and experiences in driving. This class begins with simple maneuvers and skills and progresses to more difficult skills as the student improves. In many cases, it is helpful for the student to have additional driving time between lessons so that you, the parent, can help him/her master the appropriate driving skills. A skills sheet used in class is available. If you would like to request one, please contact us. Safe driving is everyone’s responsibility. Your encouragement in stressing the value of being a safe driver is very important.
