2010-2011 Chapman High School List of Accomplishments
Athletics:
· Coach Rebecca Pack was selected to coach in the 2A/3A North-South Softball all-star game this past summer.
· Coach Jerry Waters was honored as the 2010 SC Basketball Official’s Coach of the Year for the upstate.
· The new athletic website (www.thepanthernation.com) was launched September 1st.
· Fall Sports Athletes visited IES and helped with their writing skills during “Paws to Write”.
· The Lady Panthers Tennis Team finished their best season ever, ending the year 14-4.
· The CHS Volleyball Team took the Region III-3A title .
· The Girls’Golf team finished 2nd place this year in the region.
· Boys and Girls Cross Country teams finished 3rd at the region meet which qualified them to the upper state meet.
· The varsity Competition Cheer Team took first place at the Rebel Cheer Challenge and the JV team finished 3rd.

· All-State Honors

· Preston Durham was selected for the Max Preps Air Force Junior All-American Team for football. Preston is one of only 22 players in the nation to be selected to the team.
· The wrestling team finished 3rd in the Spartanburg County meet which is their best finish in school history.
· Ivan Korneychuk was selected to the North-South wrestling team.
· Jalen Nesbitt was selected to participate at the North-South All-Star basketball game.
· The following students were named Palmetto Fellows: Hamilton Bonds, Dalton Fowler, Austin Hedrick, Elizabeth Ward, Kortney Schuman, Adam Taylor, and Jared Snider.
· Tanae Copeland (volleyball), Jalen Nesbitt (Boy’s Basketball), and Caroline Hill were 2010-2011 Region Players of the Year in their respective sports.
· Pancakes with the Panthers were held at Fatz Café .
· Jalen Nesbitt was named to the All-State basketball team.
· The Chapman High School football was broadcasted live on Charter Cable Channel 36.
· The football team was also featured as the game of the week on TV 40.

· JV Volleyball beat out 10 teams to capture the Bing Bang Boom Tournament.
· Competition Cheer took 1st place in the AAA division at the Gaffney Invitational.
· Competitive Cheer team captured 1st place in the AAA division in the Panther Prowl tournament.
· Competitive Cheer team won the Rebel Cheer Challenge in their division.
· The boys and girls cross country teams finished second at the region meet.
· Aaron Tate qualified to the State Cross Country meet in Columbia.
· The competition cheerleaders were state qualifiers.
· Dalton Fowler was honored s the Founders Federal Credit Union Scholar Athlete of the Week by the Spartanburg Touchdown Club.
· Congratulations to Liza West on signing an athletic scholarship to attend Erskine College
· JV wrestlers dominated the Hillcrest HS Tournament. Taking 1st place in their weight classes were Dylan Cogdill, James Deal, Michael Scott, Austin Kilpatrick, and Alex LeCroy. 2nd place finishers were David Korneychuk and Justin Stewart.
· Varsity boys’ basketball team won the Fatz Café Tip-Off Tournament. Seniors Stephen Golightly and Allen Hicks were named to the All-Tournament team, and Jalen Nesbitt was awarded the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player Award.
· The girls’ tennis team sponsored 2 children for Christmas as their Community Service Project.
· The Boy’s Basketball team finished second in the Battle at the Border Christmas Tournament. Jalen Nesbitt and Allen Hicks were named to the All-Tournament team
· The varsity girls won the consolation Championship at the Battle at the Border Christmas Tournament.
· Congratulations to Jalen Nesbitt, Allen Hicks, Dalton Fowler, Tanae Copeland, and Zykeya Henderson for making All –Region in Basketball.
· The wrestling team clinched the Region 3- AAA Championship and closed out a perfect 13-0 regular season.

· Austin Hedrick received the Wendy’s Heisman Award.
· Jennifer Allen (Volleyball), David Bush (Wrestling), Will Maley (Boy’s Soccer), and Cayce Wampole-Lell (Girl’s Soccer) were Region 3-AAA Coaches of the Year. All four teams were region champions.
· The following athletes were named All Region in the spring.

o Girl’s Track- Stephanie Rincon was All Region in the 400 hurdles and pole vault.
o Boy’s Track- Jamar Wilkins in the long jump

o Baseball- Kody Stewart and Brandon Painter
o Girl’s Soccer- Caitlyn Johnson, Katelyn Lanford, Linde Weissenberger, Samantha McMillin, Hannah Phillips, and Kendall Griswold
