Art

Art

Four years of art are possible for any interested student. These programs are designed for students who wish to broaden their creative base and knowledge in the arts. In each program, students will be encouraged to experience all types of media, thereby giving them a choice of skills in which to express themselves. Students will be more receptive to all kinds of experiences and able to trust their own way of seeing and expressing ideas.

Students' visual language will be sharpened so that they may effectively communicate with their peers. With this additional skill, the student will be able to think and make relational judgments about images (as presented on television, advertisements, magazines); they will be able to see beyond mere surface appearances and recognize the purpose and spirit of images expressed, whether in the fine arts or in printed or video advertisement. Art will help students relate to their world, for they will be able to use their skills in coordinating clothing, home decor, and visual materials on their job.
