Where can I get a copy of the school calendar?

The school calendar for the 2018-2019 school year is available at the front office or by clicking on the following link as well as on the district’s website here.

When do I pay for my child's meals?

You may pay for your child's meals by sending the money to your teacher in an envelope or online at . Be sure to put your child’s name, teacher, and amount enclosed on the envelope. Your child may turn this in to his/her teacher or the front office. You may pay daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. The lunchroom will send a statement of your child's account home when their account is approaching a zero balance or if the account is over due. If there is a (-) before the total amount, then that is how much you have in the account. If there is a - before the amount, then that is how much you owe. All questions regarding payments are referred to Abbey Daniels in the cafeteria. She may be contacted through the front office at 472-8403.www.mealpayplus.com

Why do I have to complete a free lunch application every year?

The federal government requires that a new application be completed within the first 30 days of every school year. It is best that you do this at registration. Once the 30 days have passed and there is no application on file in the cafeteria, you will be charged full price for lunch meals. Breakfast is free for all students.

What time does school start?

The tardy bell rings at 7:45 and instruction begins. Anyone that is not in the school at that time is considered tardy and must report to the front office for a tardy pass to enter class. School ends at 2:30 PM.

What do I do when my child is absent?

When your child is absent from school you are not required to call the school. When the student returns, you must send either a note from the doctor or a note written by the parent stating:

Child’s first and last name
Reason of absence
Date of absence
Parent signature

A child’s absence will be considered excused or unexcused by guidelines stated in the District One Attendance Policy. Excessive absences from school require a doctor’s statement.

We do not interrupt classes to get make-up work. Students are allowed 5 days to make up work because of absences.

What if my child is a car rider?

CAR RIDER PROCEDURES – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

ARRIVAL

  • Students remain on the sidewalk with teacher supervision until their ride arrives.
  • There will be no student pick up on Oakland Ave.  Please help us keep our children safe and secure by not walking to the car rider line to pick up your child.
  • Students who are not picked up on time will be taken to the front office. An adult must come in to the front office to sign the student out.
  • The dismissal bell rings at 2:30.
  • Avoid traffic back up by arriving no earlier than 2:30.

Thank you for your co-operation in ensuring our children’s safety and security! As with any school, the after school line will move slower the first few weeks of school. Come by the school and complete a bus transportation form. The assistant principal can explain this process and answer your questions. If you live within 1 ½ miles of the school or outside of the Inman Elementary School attendance zone, we cannot offer bus transportation according to state law. Students are not allowed to ride home with friends on the bus unless they already are assigned a seat on that same bus.

What measures are taken to keep my child safe during the school day?

We have a School Crisis Plan in place that is updated yearly. We have an Inman Police Department Officer, Jimmy Bobo, who serves as our full-time School Resource Officer.  All main doors are locked during the school day. All visitors must enter through the main office, sign in, and get a visitor’s ID badge prior to entering the building. Students are supervised by adults all during the day. Special safety precautions are taken at drop-off and pick-up times. Adults may be asked to show a picture ID and/or proof of identity when picking up students.
