ATHLETIC YOUTH CAMPS

Our After School Youth Club program had the honor of being presented as a model after school program at the 2005 National Recreation and Parks Congress. In addition to providing a safe place, the program has the goal of helping children develop good decision-making skills. Recreational activities are used as the tool to deliver the message of physical activity, nutrition, and character development. In addition, children are fed a nutritious snack and are provided the proper environment to complete homework. For further information call our Youth Development Coordinator, Elizabeth Hardee, at 864-472-5162.

Character Counts:

December’s Character Counts theme is GENEROSITY. The holiday season is the perfect time of the year to learn about generosity. At AYC, your children will be given the opportunity to put this rewarding character trait into practice. Your children will learn through games, activities, and crafts, the importance of being generous to others and particularly to those less fortunate than ourselves. Most AYC sites will have the opportunity to practice real-life generosity by sponsoring a child for Christmas from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. Check with your site supervisor to see if your child’s AYC program will be sponsoring a child this year and what you can do to help.
