Poetry Alive! visits IIS

The Poetry Alive! Team of Ashleigh Millett and Skyler Goff led students in each grade level at Inman Intermediate School through the four performance points: have a confident stance, face your audience, fill your space, and project your voice. Students also learned five elements of poetry performance led each group through an interactive performance of a given poem. The high-energy performances and interactive workshop provided students with a more in-depth exploration of literary analysis, and writing and speaking skills.

Storyteller Tim Lowry visits IIS

South Carolina Storyteller Tim Lowry recently completed a four day workshop with students at Inman Intermediate School as an artist-in-residence, allowing students to dig deeper into the art of storytelling and story writing.   With an emphasis on American history, Lowry collaborated with teachers to craft units integrating Social Studies and ELA curriculum.  

Ballet Spartanburg visits IIS
IIS students learned dance basics in a Ballet Spartanburg artist-in-residency program.
District One Schools Principal Erika Center Recognized and Nominated for State Award
Mrs. Center, principal of Holly Springs Elementary in Spartanburg School District One, has been named as the Spartanburg County SCIRA Administrator of the year by the Spartanburg Reading Council.

At IIS, we work hard every day to display our Mustang PRIDE – Productivity, Respect, Initiative, Determination and Excellence. We have a great school, and we always want to get even better!

This school year, we are moving Full STEAM Ahead…...Anchored in Literacy!
We will continue to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics into all of our classes as we challenge our students to be critical thinkers and problem solvers. We will also integrate critical reading and writing strategies into all of our classes. We want our students to foster their 21st Century Learning Skills of Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication.
