Text Box:              Last year’s Lunch and Learn sessions were such a success, they have been brought back by popular demand. Each month, students will have the opportunity to attend a presentation by a career professional. These sessions are held during both lunch shifts and are available to all students in all grade levels. September’s speakers included Detectives Bohon and Horton from the Spartanburg County Police Department. More than twenty students signed up for this event.  October’s presenter is Mr. Wayne Culpepper, a photographer, and November’s presenter is Ms. Jimmie Lynn Dykes, a landscape architect and jewelry maker. 
             In addition to having the opportunity to hear career professionals, students will have the opportunity to attend an admissions session presented by various college admissions personnel from the following colleges and universities: Furman University (October 27), USC Upstate (Nov.10), Spartanburg Methodist College, (Oct. 15) Converse College (Oct. 7), and Winthrop University (Nov. 2). More college visits to come.

Police Officer
Police officers help protect the lives of others. They work for the state, city or county. They pursue and apprehend individuals who have broken the law. 
One to two years of college is often required. Most police officers study criminal justice. Police officers with four year college degrees will earn a higher salary. 
Employment is expected to grow as fast as the average. The average median income is $47,460.
