1.    Hampton Fund Scholarships (4 listed below)

General biology, pre-medical biology and veterinary sciences are not eligible for these 4 scholarships.  January 3, 2012 is the deadline for all 4 of these scholarships.

 

Harry Hampton Scholarship

For students who wish to further their education in the natural resources discipline such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry or marine science.

David M. Cline Scholarship

For students with the same criteria as the Harry Hampton Scholarship, but law enforcement/criminal justice is also included.

Wallace Pate Scholarship

This scholarship has the same criteria as the Harry Hampton Scholarship but it is for one year only.

James O. Thomason Scholarship

For students who wish to further their education in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications.  Essay is required.  Can be renewed for 4 years.

 

2.    Burger King Scholars Program

3.    Ronald McDonald House Charities Program

Due January 27, 2012.

 

4.    AXA Achievement Community Scholarship

Due February 1, 2012.

 

5.    USDA/1890 National Scholars Program

Must have GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Must be interested in attending one of the eighteen 1890 Land-Grant Universities (only one in SC is SC State University), intend to study agriculture, food, natural resource science or other related academic discipline, must have SAT score of 1000 or ACT score of 21.  See Mrs. Cardell for more details.

6.    SC Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities Journalism Contest

Write a 3-page article on the benefits of hiring people with disabilities. This year’s theme is “Profit by investing in workers with disabilities.”  The contest winner receives a 4-year scholarship to a SC state-supported institution of his or her choice.  For more information and complete rules and eligibility requirements, visit www.journalism.scvd.net

7.    Archibald Rutledge Scholarships

Given in creative writing, dance, music, theater, and visual arts.  Only 2 entries per category per school.  Student must be attending a SC college or university.  See Mrs. Cardell for specific instructions for each category.

8.    KFC Colonel’s Scholar Program

GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, enroll in a public college in South Carolina, plan to pursue a 4-year degree, and demonstrate financial need.

9.    SC LAW Enforcement Officers’ Foundation

Must attend a SC college or university.  One $5000.00 scholarship and two $2000.00 scholarships will be awarded.  Application, transcript, and a 1000-word essay required.

10.  King’s College – HOSA Scholarship

Scholarship given to active HOSA members who are planning to attend King’s College in Medical Assisting.  Applications can be found at www.nchosa.org under “publications.”

Interviews will be held in Greensboro, NC at the State Leadership Conference on Thursday, March 29.  Applications are due by February 14, 2012.

 

11.  Watson-Brown Foundation Scholarships

Renewable $3000.00--$5000.00 scholarships for students attending a 4-year college or university --- given based on both merit and need.  Students must submit the online application at www.watson-brown.org/scholarship  Supplemental documents (transcript letters of recommendation/tax forms) must be mailed in the one envelope.
