College Application Day

October 25, 2011

All seniors are scheduled during one class period to complete college applications on October 25.  Parents may want to ask what time their student has been scheduled in case they want to be involved.

 

Spartanburg Community College has waived the $25.00 application fee if seniors complete a SCC application on October 25th.

 

 

1.     2012 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

To recognize volunteer service.  Online application must be completed at www.spirit.prudential.com  or www.nassp.org/spirit  by November 1.

One school winner will be selected to represent LHS.

 

2.     Polk County Community Foundation Scholarships

Students who apply must live in the 29356 zip code area (not a post office box).

Awards range in value and the criteria varies for different scholarships. Only one application is required for completion to apply for all available scholarships.

The application must be taken to the Polk County Foundation in Tryon by 1:00 PM on November 15. Interviews are conducted after completion of application is verified. See your guidance counselor for an application.

 

3.     Robert E. McNair Scholarship at Francis Marion University

SAT 1100 or higher or ACT 24.  GPA 3.0 or higher, have interest in a career in public service and willing to commit to study abroad and service learning opportunities.

Applications are available at www.fmarion.edu/fmuadmissions/scholarship.

 Due November 18.

 

4.     Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund Scholarship Program

Eligible students must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, SAT score of 1800 (all 3 tests) or ACT score of 26, parents adjusted gross income cannot exceed $40,000.  Applications are online at www.csascholars.org  Due November 21.

 

5.     S. C. Teaching Fellows Scholarships

$24,000 over 4 years to students planning to become educators and attend a Teaching Fellows Institution.  For more details and to apply, visit www.cerra.org/teachingfellows.

Applications will be accepted September 1—December 1.  Three letters of recommendation must be mailed by the applicant in one envelope by December 1, 2011.

7.     Clemson University Portfolio Review

Clemson will host an Art Department Portfolio Review on Saturday, October 29

from 9:00 AM--- Noon.  See your counselor for more information if you are considering an Art Major at Clemson University.

 

8.     Lees McRae College Open House
