Tips from Guidance

• Continue to monitor academic progress.

• Ensure that 4-year college-bound students are taking additional course requirements for college admission.

• College-bound students should register through guidance to take the PSAT / NMSOT in October.

• Research and visit colleges that interest you.

• Take the ASVAB test to correlate interests and aptitudes with career opportunities in the military.

• Continue to participate in extra-curricular and volunteer activities to enhance chances for scholarships.

• Collect information about college application procedures, entrance requirements, and scholarships.
  (College and scholarship application process begins in the senior year)

• Register to take the SAT / ACT by spring of your junior year if you have followed a college prep curriculum and plan to attend a 4-year college.

• Attend the Financial Aid workshop in January to get an overview of the financial aid process.
