Model and Engineering Section  (40 points)

You will work in teams of three to complete the programming tutorial and the model portion of the project.  Then you will complete the written section and power point section of the project by yourself.  You will use the Fischertechnic Kits to complete your amusement ride.  Then you will use the Logicator software to write a program to run your ride.  Read the design brief “Children’s Ride” to see what is required for your fairground ride.  In addition to requirements below, your device must use one sensor, and it must have an emergency shut off switch.  In order to receive the 40 pts you must play an active role in the design and engineering of the model and the development of the operating program.

 

 

Written Report Section (30 points)

Write a report explaining step by step of how your logicator program controls the actions of your ride.  Attach a copy of the flow chat to your report.

 

Power Point Presentation (30 points)

You will complete a power point presentation about your amusement ride.  You are trying to sell your ride to an amusement park company, so make it exciting and interesting.  Be sure all the slides, special effects, and transitions are automatic.  Once the slide show starts, it must run automatically until the end of the presentation.

 

Requirements for Slide Show:

1.                  Minimum of 5 slides, Special effects and transitions (5 pts)

2.                  Company name, Company Logo     (5 pts)

3.                  Acid Music loop (5pts)

4.                  Video clip of model working or digital picture (5pts)

5.                  Body copy convincing the client this is the ride they need to purchase. (5pts)

6.                  Creative use of resources and of technology (5pts)

 

You will be given four days to complete the model portion of the project. One day to complete the written report and one day to complete the PowerPoint presentation.  The project covers all aspects of the ITEA standards for technological literacy.
