Directions: Each student will choose a career that he/she is interested in and would like to investigate. You will need to follow and complete each number and page as instructed. The project will follow page by page. Please be sure to read each section very carefully!!!
Page 1: This is the title page-this is to have your name, class name, teacher’s name, date and the title of your chosen career.
Page 2: This is the ad page- you will need to find 7-10 different ads from newspapers for your chosen career. You will need to cut out each ad and attach to this page-under each ad should be:
- The name of newspapers came from
- The date of newspaper
Each ad is to be different and must come from at least 4 different newspapers.
Page 3: This is the interview questions page- you will need to compile a list of
10-15 questions that you would like to know about your career if you were to interview for a job.
Page 4: This is the educational page- you will need to research what type of high school and post high school education is needed for this career and be sure in this paragraph (5 sentences or more) to tell what kind of skills this career requires:
(Example: Computer Tech: Subjects, Math, English, Skills: keyboarding)
Page 5: This is the article page- you will scan the newspapers to find any articles or stories related to your career in any way. You will need to find at least 2 and attach them to this page and be sure to label as follows:
-The name of the newspaper, and the date article was written
Page 6: This is the research page- on this page you will need to discuss:
- How stable your career is in society now
- How technology might affect (better/worse) your job
- What kind of things may be important in your job that would help you climb to the top, such as education, additional training, etc...
Page 7: This is the salary page- you will need to find what the average salary for your career is and how it might increase with years of experience or years of working for the same company- in a paragraph of 5 sentences or more- maybe you could show a chart of the salaries based on experience or tenure.
Page 8: This is the benefits page- in two or more paragraphs, explain benefits that might come from a career such as yours, make sure to include if there is insurance coverage, average vacation days, average working hours, retirement/pensions, dress attire and other things you may see as benefits from your career.
Page 9: This is the business page- in 2 or more paragraphs you need to discuss whether your career would be best if you owned your own business or whether you would work for a company or you would work for a private individual.
Page 10: this is the local page-in the last page you need to discuss if your career will allow for you to stay in the local Spartanburg area or would your career have you to move from the local area- make sure you tell why.
Page 11: This is the summary page- on this page you to tell why are interested in this career and whether it is something that you will do for the rest of your life or whether it is just a beginning career that could change once you get older.
