– Palmetto Explorers Team

Dear Parents and Students,

We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this school year.  These middle school years will be both stimulating and challenging for all of us!

Our primary goals will be to establish a firm foundation in your child’s core subjects and to help your child as he or she begins to take responsibility for his or her academic success.  The first step toward accepting this responsibility is to come to school each and every day prepared for their academic classes.  We expect each student to bring the following materials to class each and every day:

  • Sharpened pencil
  • Assigned Textbooks
  • Notebook paper
  • Homework (if assigned)
  • Agenda
  • The correct notebook for the class

We also expect each student to adhere to the following classroom rules each and every day:

  • Raise your hand and wait for permission to get up or to speak.
  • Be courteous.
  • Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
  • Follow directions and stay on task.
  • Bring supplies to class.

Rewards will be given to students who are consistently prepared for their core classes

(Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies).  The following consequences will apply to those students who choose to come to their core classes without the above needed materials.

First Offense – Verbal Warning

Second offense – Verbal Warning and Conference with Student

Third Offense – Note in Agenda and/or phone call home

Fourth Offense – After School Detention

Fifth Offense (and on) – Office Referral

Our team planning period will be from 2:05 – 2:45 each afternoon.  Please feel free to contact us during this time if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress or if you would like to schedule a conference.

Each one of us will be staying after school until 4pm one day a week.  If your child needs to make up work or simply needs extra help, he or she is welcome to stay.  Please send a note with your child on the day they plan to stay after school.  We are NOT able to provide transportation, so please make every effort to pick up your child by 4pm.

Tuesday – Mrs. Simmons

Tuesday – Mrs. Starosto

Wednesday – Mrs. Smith

Friday – Mr. Hall

On behalf of all the faculty and staff at Mabry Middle School – WELCOME!!  By working together, we WILL make this year a successful one.
