Cindy Riddle, art educator at O.P. Earle Elementary School, received a Priscilla & Ellis D. Slater Excellence in Teaching Award. The grant is awarded through the Polk County Community Foundation to fund teachers' educational trips and create learning experiences that improve teaching skills. A teaching artist, Mrs. Riddle traveled to California to study plein aire painting at the Alla Prima Studio in Napa Valley. Mrs. Riddle has brought back innovative new skills to her classroom and has developed a landscape painting unit.
