The Scholars Academy at USC Upstate is a four-year high school program for students who are academically advanced, motivated, and would like to earn college credits while in high school. Applications typically become available in late November-early December and are due back to LMS at the end of January.

Parents of students who want to apply will need to attend one of the information sessions, which are in November and January. Students should complete the application on the Scholars Academy website, the essay, and recommendations and return all to Mr. Phillips. Please leave all recommendations in sealed envelopes. Mr. Phillips will complete the counselor’s report and send all applications to Upstate. Some students will then receive an invitation to an interview. Any families who do not have Internet access or a printer, your student can come by the guidance office for a printed application. Students may only apply for the Scholars Academy in the eighth grade; they will not be able to enter the Academy after the first year.

The application process for 2016-2017 will begin in November 2016. Algebra I students will be notified of this opportunity in class, as students entering the Scholars Academy need to have completed Algebra I for admission.
