Spartanburg School District One is proud to announce that it has officially been named a Purple Star School District, a statewide recognition for the district’s commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
The Purple Star designation reflects the district’s ongoing efforts to ensure smooth transitions for students of active-duty service members, National Guard, and Reserve families. This includes providing dedicated support, collaborating with military partners, and creating welcoming environments that honor the unique needs of military children.
“We are honored to receive this designation,” said Superintendent Dr. Mark Smith. “Our goal is to ensure every student feels supported, connected, and valued. This recognition affirms our commitment to the families who serve our country.”
Dr. Amber Pitts, Military Community Liaison for Spartanburg One, shared:
“Our military-connected students enrich our school community in so many ways. This designation highlights our ongoing commitment to ensuring their families feel supported, welcomed, and understood throughout every transition.”
