Superintendent Search Finalists Announced

After extensive interviews with semi-finalists in the search for a superintendent, the Spartanburg One Board of Trustees unanimously approved the finalists during a Special Called Meeting on Monday, November 21, 2022. 

The Spartanburg One Board of Trustees has announced the following individuals as finalists for the position of Superintendent of Spartanburg School District One:

Dr. Tiffany A. Estes currently serves as the Director of Planning and Development for Anderson School District One. Previously, she served as Principal of Greenville Early College and Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at Woodmont Middle School. She served as the Special Education Unit Leader/ASP Coordinator for Pittsfield Public Schools in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She has served as a Special Education Teacher in Greenville County Schools and Cobb County Schools in Marietta, Georgia. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Georgian Court University and an M.Ed. from Georgia State University. She holds an Ed.S. degree and an Ed.D. from South Carolina State University.

Mr. Jason W. McCraw currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Operations for Spartanburg School District One. Previously, he served as Principal at Landrum High School and Assistant Principal at Dorman Freshman Campus. He has also served as a science teacher and head coach at Chesnee High School, Lexington High School, and Blacksburg High School. He earned a B.S. degree in Biology from Presbyterian College and an M.Ed. from Converse College.  

Dr. Mark S. Smith currently serves as Chief Officer of Student Services, School Safety, and Transportation for Spartanburg School District Six. Previously, he served as Principal of Dorman Freshman Campus, Assistant Principal at Dorman High School, and Assistant Principal at Dorman Freshman Campus. He started his career as a social studies teacher and head coach at Fairforest Middle School. He earned a B.A. in Social Studies/Education from Erskine College and an M.Ed. from Converse College. He holds an Ed.S. and an Ed.D. from South Carolina State University.

The finalists will visit and tour Spartanburg One school campuses; meet with students, staff, and administrators; and interview with the Board of Trustees over a three-day period the week of December 5th. Our community will have an opportunity to meet and greet each candidate.
