On Thursday, Feb. 19, Mrs. McAntyre’s English III class had the privilege of talking via Zoom with Mr. Brandon Fletcher, Production Lead Engineer for the Kennedy Space Center. Fletcher has been working on the Artemis II mission for nine years, leading a team of 19 technicians through the day-to-day building of the spacecraft. Artemis II is scheduled to launch sometime in the next couple of months.
Students in Mrs. McAntyre’s class were able to ask Fletcher and his intern, Emily Wheeler, all sorts of questions about his day to day job, what led him to becoming a rocket scientist, the dangers of space flight and even got his perspective on AI. They also learned what type of fuel the rocket requires and how astronauts eat and live in space. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for these CHS students!
