Men on Boats is a comedic true-ish play about John Wesley Powell's 1869 government-sanctioned expedition to chart the Green and Colorado rivers through the Grand Canyon. Ten explorers (based off of the real-life trailblazers) set out in four wooden rowboats named the Emma Dean, Kitty Clyde's Sister, No-Name, and Maid of the Canyon. The adventurers start mapping the wild waters of Wyoming, pushing forward with high spirits, youthful confidence, and Manifest Destiny ambitions.
