Landrum, S.C. — On Saturday, October 25, the Landrum Farmers Market hosted its annual “Ag & FFA Day,” an event designed to showcase the region’s agricultural heritage while honoring student members of the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) program.

The morning’s festivities featured live demonstrations, vendor displays, and opportunities for the public to meet FFA students from nearby schools who are actively involved in the region’s farming, horticulture and agricultural education programs. Organizers said the goal was to strengthen the connection between the students, local producers and the broader community.

In remarks, event leaders highlighted the role of youth in sustaining agriculture and noted that the FFA chapter’s engagement at the market allows students to gain real‑world experience with farming practices, small‑business operations and public outreach.

Market Manager JoAnn James (quoted in previous coverage) emphasized that the partnership between the market and the FFA empowers students while also inviting the public to deepen their understanding of where their food comes from.

Participants included dozens of students from the local high school and middle school FFA programs, as well as community members who visited the market to explore produce, plants, agricultural exhibits and the student‑led activities.

Event attendees had the chance to engage in hands‑on experiences—such as viewing demonstration plots, speaking directly with student growers, and exploring the tools and technologies that modern agriculture uses. According to organizers, the event serves both as an educational outreach and a celebration of the region’s agricultural roots.
