The Landrum High School Girls Varsity Cross Country team made history this week, capturing the County Championship title for the first time in school history.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was Ruby Cain, who delivered an outstanding performance to become the individual county champion with a time of 18:40. Ruby’s victory marks a major milestone—she is only the second Landrum athlete ever to win the individual county championship race.
The varsity team’s success didn’t stop there. Ava Campbell, Abigail Bridges, and Eden Helton also placed in the top 10, earning All-County honors and helping secure the historic team win.
Landrum’s Girls JV team also dominated their division, claiming first place overall. Sarah Claire Adams led the JV squad with an impressive first-place finish, while Clancy Vaughan, Samantha Newsom, Madie Rogers, and Ella Thompson all placed in the top 10, sealing another victory for the Cardinals.
This remarkable showing from both teams highlights the growing strength of Landrum’s cross country program and marks a proud moment in school history.
