Landrum, SC — The Landrum High School Girls Cross Country team had an unforgettable season, culminating in a State Runner-Up finish at this year’s State Championship. The team finished 60 points ahead of 3rd place and just 7 points behind the state champions, marking their best state finish since 2018.

The Cardinals’ top five runners averaged a 19:51 time, the fastest in Landrum history, demonstrating the depth and talent of the team. Ruby Cain led the charge as an individual state medalist, finishing 2nd overall with a time of 18:54. Joining her in earning All-State honors were Abigail Bridges (6th), Ava Campbell (8th), and Eden Helton (13th). Anna Helton rounded out the top five with a strong 19th place finish.

Christian Solby expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishments:
"I am unbelievably proud of this group. They have worked so hard for so long, and it is so rewarding to see all of their hard work pay off. This is just the beginning, as we are hoping to build a powerhouse program that is in contention for state titles year after year!"

With a historic season now behind them, the Cardinals are already looking forward to continuing their success and building on this momentum in the coming years.
