🎲✨ Mr. Festa's math students turned the classroom into Game Central! ✨🎲
In a fun twist on learning, students created their own board games to apply math skills in creative, hands-on ways. From calculating probabilities to designing rules and game mechanics, these young innovators brought numbers to life — and had a blast doing it! 📐🧠 Who knew math could be this fun? #LiveLearnLandrum #8thgrademath #RespectExcellenceDetermination

Retired NYPD Lieutenant John Moran visited Mr. Millwood’s 6th-period ELA class on Thursday afternoon. As Vice-President and CFO of Heart 9/11, a nonprofit founded after the 9/11 attacks, Lt. Moran shared powerful stories from his 23 years with the NYPD. He was the night tour Platoon Commander at Ground Zero right after the attacks, leading efforts to bring loved ones home while searching through the wreckage. Heart 9/11 works to:
▶ Respond immediately to natural and man-made disasters
▶ Rebuild community centers in hard-hit areas to meet grassroots needs
▶ Recover by building resiliency for individuals, families, and communities
Mr. Millwood’s students are currently reading Ground Zero by Alan Gratz — a gripping story about a boy trapped in the North Tower on 9/11. Alongside the book, they’re learning about nonprofits, citizenship, and are preparing for a year-long service project inspired by these lessons.
A big thank you to Lt. Moran for sharing his firsthand experience — connecting history, service, and community in a truly meaningful way! #LiveLearnLandrum #RespectExcellenceDetermination #heart9/11
