In light of the potential impact from Hurricane Helene, we are taking proactive measures to prioritize the safety of our students and staff. As a result, Spartanburg One will hold an E-Learning Day on Friday, September 27. All afterschool programs, activities, and athletic events scheduled for both Thursday and Friday have also been canceled. The National Weather Service is forecasting strong winds, flooding, and severe weather conditions for our area. As a reminder, SC Bus Safety Regulations restrict the operation of school buses if sustained winds reach 30mph or gusts of 40mph. Depending on the grade-level, teachers will communicate with parents and/or students regarding any assignments that should be completed. Thank you for your understanding, as safety is always our top priority.
Spartanburg School District One has received a double upgrade in its credit ratings, according to recent statements from Moody’s Investors Service. The district’s issuer rating has been elevated to A1 from A3, while the rating on the district's Installment Purchase Revenue Bonds (IPRBs) has improved to A2 from Baa1. This upgrade reflects the district’s strong financial performance and responsible fiscal management.
Key factors influencing the upgrade include Spartanburg One’s solid reserve position, increasing student enrollment, and a decreasing leverage profile. The district’s available fund balance ratio has improved significantly. This financial improvement is attributed to enhanced governance and increased state and local revenues.
Moody’s highlighted the district’s growing enrollment and solid property tax base as key factors in the upgraded ratings. Looking ahead, Spartanburg One is committed to leveraging this positive momentum by preserving its strong financial health and advancing its mission of student-centered education.

On Tuesday, Mrs. Sundra Proctor-Smith was announced as a finalist for Spartanburg County STEM Educator of the Year! Mrs. Proctor-Smith is a special education teacher at Chapman High School.
Spartanburg Science Center will unveil the STEM Educator of the Year on September 26th.

🎓Barkley Bolding, a senior from Landrum High, was unable to attend the May commencement ceremony due to being hospitalized from an ATV accident. Despite this setback, Barkley's determination shone through as he proudly received his diploma at his own graduation.
Barkley's journey with Spartanburg One began in 4K at O.P. Earle, and we are incredibly proud of his perseverance and achievements.❤️👏
